This extension is fully integrated into the concrete5 system. Once a user registers on your website, the IP address and email address are checked by using public databases. If the IP or e-mail address is on a blacklist, registration is prevented, and the user receives an error message. This small extension protects your site from fraudulent activities. This is particularly advisable if, for example, you operate an online shop with the Bitter Shop System or the Community Store. But this extension is also suitable for all other applications that make use of the concrete5's user management system.
The extension requires an active Internet connection to communicate with the API interfaces. If you are running an intranet application, please check in advance whether an active Internet connection is available.
How IP Verification Works
The extension checks if the user tries to register on your website via proxy, VPN or the TOR network. For this purpose the IP address is transmitted to the free web service "getipintel.net".The web service contains almost 800 million records about IP addresses. The data is constantly updated. The provider checks the IP address and provides a point value. If this is explicitly negative, registration is prevented.
How email verification works
The email address is checked by using the free web service "block-trashmail.space". If it is a disposable address or if the domain is on a black list, registration is prevented. The database is regularly being maintained and currently contains more than 18 thousand data records.
The extension can check up to ten registration attempts per minute. If you need a higher quota you can contact the operators of "getipintel.net" and "block-trashmail.space".
Since the user's IP address and email address will be shared with third parties, you need to add the following to your privacy statement: When you register on our website, your email address will be sent to block- trashmail.space as fraud prevention. Your IP address is also transmitted to getipintel.net for fraud prevention purposes.
